Disney have announced that it will remake Home Alone and other movies for its new Disney+ streaming service.

Bob Iger has said that there will "reimaginations” of Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper by the Dozen. Disney acquired these franchises after it bought 20th Century Fox.

Disney+ is expected to hit the UK next year, with a November launch date scheduled for the U.S. Prices have been rumoured to be £6.99 a month to rival Netflix. It will host more than 7,500 TV episodes and 400 movies, including new content from both the Star Wars and Marvel franchises.

The Christmas classic was released originally in 1990 and still has an audience rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and is considered a classic. However, there are no details on a release date or who will play Kevin or the iconic “Wet Bandits”.

"So far this year we've released five of the top six movies," Iger told a conference call with investors. “Including four which have generated more than a billion dollars in global box office."
