Live-Action Moana Sails Into UK Cinemas On 10 July

Disney's live-action reimagining of Moana is nearly here, with the film setting sail into UK cinemas on 10 July. The original 2016 animation was a firm favourite with British families, so there is plenty of excitement about seeing Motunui brought to life on the big screen.

Newcomer Catherine Laga'aia takes the lead as Moana, while Dwayne Johnson returns as the demigod Maui, this time in the flesh rather than just lending his voice. Reports suggest the transformation into Maui takes Johnson close to three hours in the hair and make-up chair each day. The film is directed by Hamilton's Thomas Kail, with John Tui, Frankie Adams and Rena Owen among the cast.

To build the hype, Disney has been lighting up the sky with a one-night drone show over Miami. UK fans will not have long to wait to see how the wayfinding adventure translates to live action, with the film opening here on the same day as the United States.
