SeaWorld's New Perk a game changer
SeaWorld have a new perk that Disney and Universal could learn from...
SeaWorld have been having a terrible time lately with stock values plummeting, attendance figures down to early 90's numbers and revenues down 85%!; It's a desperate time for Orlando's third park.
Over the last couple of years it seems that the public have rapidly lost it's appetite for giant marine animals performing tricks in small pools, meanwhile SeaWorld has been desperately running PR to try to convince everyone that they are really lovely (with little success).
All may not be lost however, recently SeaWorld seems to have remembered it's a theme park and has announced a huge new shark themed rollercoaster, Mako, along with 'Shark's Realm'. Let's be honest, sharks are awesome so if this is done right it could well start to turn things around for SeaWorld.
SeaWorld has more though!
In addition to some fantastic looking new attractions, SeaWorld has opened a lounge for annual pass holders. This is something that neither Universal or Disney have, their lounges are just for corporate customers and special events. Sure, this might not seem like a big deal as pass holders tend to spend less 'in-park' than regular visitors, but they are also quite influential with friends and family and of course it's stable income.
It can be argued that Disney and Universal don't need to offer this, their attendances are soaring both having record breaking figures, but having seen the what SeaWorld is offering it's most loyal customers, it certainly would be nice to see something similar offered by them.
Take a look at the video of the new lounge shot by 'Behind the Thrills' and decide for yourself:
Let's hope this is the start of a return to the good times for SeaWorld, recent comments indicate that most people *want* to return there, they're just not comfortable with how SeaWorld is perceived to have been operating.
